We Sent 24,633 Deletion Demands to Data Brokers. Here Is Who Answered

7 min read

We file deletion demands with registered data brokers for our customers, and we keep every reply. As of 2026-10-02, 24,633 of those demands have been delivered. Brokers wrote back confirming deletion 148 times. This is the full picture, with the brokers named.

The headline numbers

  • 24,633 deletion demands delivered to registered brokers, for 39 consumers.
  • 148 written deletion confirmations. That is a confirmation rate of about 0.6%.
  • 21,363 demands (86.7%) have no reply of any kind.
  • 16,913 delivered demands are past the 45 day statutory window without a resolution.
  • Median time to a written confirmation, among brokers that confirmed: 13 days.

What counts as confirmed

Only a broker stating in writing that your data was deleted. An acknowledgement ("we received your request"), a portal instruction ("submit this through our form"), or a "we hold no data on you" reply does not count as a deletion. A sent or delivered email is not a removal either. We measure delivery, replies, and confirmations separately because they are different things, and most removal services blur them.

Brokers with the highest confirmation rates

These brokers confirmed deletion for the largest share of demands delivered to them.

Brokers with no written confirmation

These brokers received the most demands and have confirmed none in writing. Some replied with other messages, and some never replied.

Read this table carefully. No written confirmation is not proof a broker broke the law. A broker may have processed requests without telling anyone, or may route replies somewhere we do not see. We report what we can document: what was delivered, and what came back.

Method

  • Every demand is sent by email under the customer's authorization to the broker's registered privacy address, and delivery is tracked by provider events.
  • Undeliverable addresses are excluded from the rates (about 1.4% of registry emails bounce).
  • A broker appears in the named tables only with at least five delivered demands.
  • No consumer names or records are published. Data covers 39 consumers.
  • The live version updates continuously at /broker-compliance-report. This post is a dated snapshot.

What this means for you

A single deletion request to a single broker is easy to ignore, and the data suggests many are. That is why one filing, whether through California's DROP platform or by hand, rarely finishes the job. Brokers that answer need follow-up, brokers that stay silent need a record you can point to, and data that returns needs a re-check.

That follow-up and record is what GhostVault does: deletion demands to 500+ registered data brokers, each broker's reply shown, and only a written confirmation counted as removed. Individual is $99 a year. There is a free masked scan first, and we do not guarantee that any broker will delete.

FAQ

Do data brokers actually delete your data when you ask?

In our data, rarely in writing. 148 confirmations from 24,633 delivered demands. Many more replies were acknowledgements, portal instructions, or no-data answers.

How long do they take?

Among brokers that confirmed, the median was 13 days. The statutory window is 45 days.

Does no reply mean a broker ignored the law?

Not necessarily. We only count written confirmations as proof, so silence is reported as silence.
